This weekend it was me and the kids as Nicki was in Washington, DC for a conference.

It was great to spend time with the kids (though Kate probably spent as much time at her good friend Marlee’s house 🙂 on a sleep-over ).

On Saturday afternoon, I did a portrait session of the Kids at Salt Creek (not these photographs) as I am trying to capture a photograph that I can put over our mantle.  The one that is there is a portrait of Kate that I love, but it’s almost six years old now.  She’s no longer that little 2 1/2 year old and I really want a photograph that captures both Kate and Sparky.

I have an idea of what I was hoping to achieve and of course, my own son turned out to be amazingly UNcooperative.  The best laid plans, as they say.  I know I will have an image there, it’s just a matter of spending some time on the edit and sharing those selects with Nicki.

Even with the planned session, I was also busy documenting their lives this weekend.

Nicki got home late Sunday and she’ll discover on Monday two little ones that will be super happy to see her as well as her husband.
