Seeing John McCain win the New Hampshire primary took me back to the very cold winter in 2000 when McCain ran for president, though lost to eventual Republican nominee George W. Bush. The first two images were made in New Hampshire (including a visit to the Don Imus show, broadcasting live from Manchester). The photo of McCain wielding a lightsaber was made in Phoenix when, as a native son, he won the Arizona Republican primary. All were made for my former employer, The Arizona Republic. Ironically, McCain who gained fame that campaign for leading a bus caravan called “The Straight Talk Express” banned my colleague Republic reporter Kris Mayes from riding the press bus during various campaign swings.
