Last weekend Lara and Whitey were married on the Mayan Riviera south of Cancun in Tulum. It was a fantastic weekend at their wedding held at the Casa de Miel, a lovely resort on the beach. The winds were very strong on Friday but subsided for the wedding on Saturday; by the evening, it was calm and warm. During the day the guys went on some rites of passage that included jumping into and swimming at a cenote on the outskirts of Tulum. Lara and several of her friends rested on the beach and then created the flowers and centerpieces (Lara is a florist back home in Boulder). Whitey’s family ventured south from their home base in Wisconsin (my old home state) for the wedding, escaping the last gasps of midwestern winter. The great thing about destination weddings is just getting to spend a lot of time with the couple and their families. By the end of the weekend I almost feel like an honorary member of the family and it’s just such a gift to be a witness to these events.
