In spite of the crowds, sleepy kids, and momentarily not being able to find our friends and our blankets, we eventually got to our seats at Founder’s Park in Ladera Ranch for the annual fireworks display.

This year did not disappoint.

The show kicked off around 9:15 and went for what seemed like a half hour.  Sparky fell asleep through half of it, and we all managed to make our way through the throngs of folks, get to the car and get home by 10:15.

The kids, Nicki and Granny Moira are asleep — it was a long day which started with the 1k Fun Run for kids, then a holiday BBQ at Jodi and Jason’s home and then to the fireworks.

Oh how I wish our kids were the kind of kinds that would sleep in until 8 or, dare I hope, 8:30 a.m.   Knowing them and despite how tired they were last night, they’ll be up at their usual time, bright and early!

Hope you and yours had a wonderful Fourth of July holiday!

These photographs were two of my favorite still images I also shot some video and will be posting that online later today.
