With Nicki’s folks Tony & Moira visiting us for a few weeks, we wanted to show them a great time over the Fourth of July. It started early on Friday afternoon when we went to Boris and Doff’s home in Huntington Harbour. Doff is Tony’s first cousin and they emigrated to the states in the late 50s and raised their family here in Southern California. They’ve been our adopted “parents” since we moved to California back in 2002. They graciously took us for a sunset tour on the Duffy. Kate has become quite attached to Nicki’s little point and shoot camera and actually has a pretty good eye for composition, if I do say so. She was wearing her Tinkerbell costume that Granny made for her in just a couple hours in the evening. Then yesterday we had a real old-fashioned Fourth of July in Ladera. In the late morning we watched the local parade which was made up of residents riding bikes decorated for the occasion. Then, in the afternoon, all of us headed over to Jeff & Nicole’s for a Fourth of July BBQ and were joined by friends and neighbors. Jeff wears glowstick necklaces at Founder’s Park as we waited for the fireworks to start. It was a great show and Kate had another late night (but it was worth it) — she just loves hanging out with her friends Marlee, Mia, Chase, Molly and Olivia.
