Today would have been my Dad’s 83rd birthday.

He passed away in 2006 after he suffered a stroke in 1999.  After the stroke he required around-the-clock care (by my Mom) and he was never the same Dad that we knew growing up.

This photograph from him though was from the 50th anniversary weekend in September 2005.  Dad was in rare form this weekend — all his children were there for the first time in a long time.

We miss him very much and I have missed him really since 1999.  There’s so many times I just think about how much I would like to ask Dad a question right now, whether it’s about raising children, politics or just talking about baseball.

I’m so glad that I have photographed him, my Mom and my siblings throughout our lives.  The photographs at least give us something to hold onto and trigger those memories.

Happy Birthday Dad!
