This is one of my favorite photos from a kids session.

I just love the feeling of it, and I love that even though it was a planned portrait session, something spontaneous like this was found.

At every portrait session, I always try to find a photo that strikes me. If my clients like it even better.

Christine & Mark’s Wedding | May 22nd, 2010 | Los Angeles

Christine and Mark were married on May 22nd at a ceremony at the incredibly ornate St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles. There’s was a Coptic ceremony and it was amazing to witness.

Following that, the couple had their reception at the Roosevelt Hotel, an iconic Hollywood hotel right on Hollywood Blvd.

Before the grand entrance we had a fun and casual portrait session by the hotel and I thought it was great that the Errol Flynn star was close to the hotel. Very vintage Hollywood.

Peggy Langin of Precious Time Events coordinated the event and it was flawless. Flowers were spectacular and were done by Shirley Liu of Flower Mart.

Congratulations you two! It was a fantastic day!

Large Wall Print hung for Client today!

I had the pleasure of being at my client’s home this afternoon as their beautiful watercolor print was hung by my framers of choice – Art & Frame Express.

Seeing this print made me so very happy. They absolutely loved the print and I think the treatment on the print, the mat and the frame are just a perfect compliment for their gorgeous home.

Sparky and Kate Diptych

Yesterday the kids went to Cal Elite in Rancho for Shelby’s birthday party.

Sparky was awash in a sea of blue, while atop the mat at the gym and Kate was flying high like she always does when she’s on the trampoline.

Nicki tries to get both Kate and Sparky to sleep this afternoon, reading in their room.

No luck. Both didn’t sleep at all, but did go to bed extra early.

Tomorrow’s departure day and we need them both rested and in good shape for the flight.

Lisa & Warwick’s Family | Durban North, South Africa

This morning Nicki drove me and the kids into Durban North for the last session of the trip — Lisa & Warwick’s family.

Lisa is one of Nicki’s dearest friends — she was maid of honor at our wedding and she’s known her for almost all her life.

Nicki is actually Jason’s godmother too (their oldest). He’s now attending Michaelhouse, the school that Warwick, Warwick’s Dad, brothers, Nicki’s Dad, and her brothers all attended.

There’s a lot of great history with this family and it was a pleasure dodging the raindrops as we completed the portrait session at their gorgeous home.

Nicki & Tim’s Family | Uhmlanga Rocks

Last week I had a lovely session photographing Tim & Nicki’s family and their kids Jack and Lara. This session was at Uhmlanga Rocks and it’s amazing how different it can be from day to day. During this session the tide was out and not nearly so windy or rough. Here’s a few of my favorites from the session.

A few images from today and the 90th Birthday Party

Before the party started, the dogs up the street were going wild.

The vervet monkeys that live in the trees around the house here were at it. And the neighbor’s dogs made Rufus and Millie start to go mad, too.

I couldn’t get any closer or it would scare them off — as it was I was across the street behind the gate (with Tony & Moira’s dogs) so they felt reasonably safe…even seeing the camera made the monkey’s a bit skittish.

And then a few photos from the “90th Birthday Party”, our casual celebration for SA friends of Nicki’s 40th and my 50th (later in May) before we head back home to the States.

It was a fantastic gathering, and ended much too soon.
